VEU Eligibility Criteria
Property Requirements
Your property must be located in Victoria and connected to the electricity grid. Both residential and commercial properties can qualify. The property can be owner-occupied, rented, or a landlord applying on behalf of tenants.
Existing System Requirements
The appliance being replaced must currently be installed and operational (or recently operational). For ducted gas heaters, the unit typically needs to be 10+ years old or have a low energy star rating. For air conditioning, the existing unit must be inefficient by current standards.
Concession Card Holders
If you hold a valid Victorian concession card (such as a Pensioner Concession Card or Health Care Card), you may qualify for additional discounts on top of the standard VEU rebate. This can further reduce or completely eliminate your out-of-pocket costs.
Rental Properties
Tenants can access VEU rebates with landlord approval. Landlords can also apply directly to upgrade heating and cooling systems in their investment properties. We can help facilitate the process between tenants and landlords to ensure a smooth upgrade.
What Disqualifies a Property?
